Practice mode

Farflung unlimited, no daily limit

The same map, the same five rarity tiers, and as many rounds as you like. Practice prompts run on a 25 second clock and never touch your daily expedition.

Unlimited mode

25 seconds. One clue. As many rounds as you like.

Practice prompts from our own bank. The clock starts when you press begin, and every correct country adds its rarity distance to the running total.

No account. Your daily expedition is untouched.

A clock, not a countdown to nothing

Every prompt gets 25 seconds. Finish early, or let the timer run while you read the map.

One pin, one country

Choose any country that fits. The game checks it against the answer list and awards its tier.

Score chases the gem

Common answers keep the streak alive. Farflung answers are what push the session total.

The loop

How practice mode works

Unlimited mode is built for the part of the daily game you cannot repeat: the next prompt. It deals a fresh clue from the practice bank, starts the clock, and keeps a session score until you stop.

There is no daily lock and no leaderboard. The point is repetition: read the qualifier, picture the region, and pick a country that fits before the timer runs out.

  1. 01

    Press start

The first prompt is dealt immediately. The clock begins at 25 seconds and stops the moment you drop a pin.

  2. 02

    Read the qualifier

Most clues have more than one correct country. Look for the word that narrows the list: a border, a sea, a language or a flag.

  3. 03

    Drop the pin

Click a country on the map or choose one from the list. The game shows the tier and the distance that answer earned.

  4. 04

    Go again

A new prompt follows. The session total, streak and best streak stay on screen until you leave the page.

The tiers

Rarity scoring

The tier system is identical to the daily game. A Common answer is worth 40 km, a Farflung answer is worth 100 km, and a wrong answer is worth nothing. The table below is rendered from the same config the game uses.

Tips for a better score

Say the clue back to yourself

The qualifier is the game. “A country that borders France” is a different list from “a country in Europe”. Read the small words first.

Move one step from the obvious answer

If Germany is the first country you think of for a German speaking clue, try Austria, Switzerland, Belgium, Luxembourg or Liechtenstein next.

Use the shape of the map

At 25 seconds, the fastest route is often visual: find the region first, then choose a country inside it that fits the clue.

Do not force a gem

A Common answer keeps the session alive. A wrong guess costs the round. Take the safe tier when the clock is against you.

Questions

Unlimited FAQ

The practical answers about the clock, the score and the difference from the daily expedition.

Does unlimited mode affect my daily result?
No. Practice rounds are separate from the daily expedition. Your daily answers and score stay as they were.
How long do I have for each prompt?
Twenty five seconds per prompt. The clock starts when the round begins. A correct country adds its rarity distance; a wrong answer or a timeout adds nothing.
Can I play on my phone?
Yes. Tap a country on the map or use the country list under the clue. The game is designed to work at 375 pixels wide.
Do I need an account?
No. Unlimited mode is free and does not require a sign up. Your session score lives in the page, and nothing is sent to a server.
Where do the practice prompts come from?
They come from our own hand built prompt bank, not from the official Farflung game. Every prompt is checked against the country data used by the map.
